Effective Immediately

In compliance with new COVID-19 containment policies adopted by several U.S. healthcare facilities, AND to keep you on track for the 2021 Main Residency Match by mitigating the risk of interstate travel restrictions, AND to protect the health of our patients, affiliated physicians and other healthcare workers, AmeriClerkships is requiring stricter credentialing processing.

AmeriClerkships will update its policies pertaining to members and our credentialing requirements on an as needed basis (even hourly if necessary, depending on locations, rate of COVID-19 transmission in certain cities, and other factors). Please see below for AmeriClerkships Members with Clinical Blocks starting in:

14 Days Prior to Each Clinical Block’s Estimated Start Date

  1. REQUIRED: Members will have to self-confirm that they are free of COVID-19 or its symptoms by replying to an official AmeriClerkships Credentialing email, AND
  2. REQUIRED: Members will be asked to provide proof of physical presence in the same state as where their upcoming clinical blocks are located by no later than 14 days prior to that Clinical Block’s estimated start date (Verification of In-State Presence, below), AND
  3. REQUIRED: Members to acknowledge their voluntary participation in clinical rotations during a pandemic.

3-4 Days Prior to Each Clinical Block’s Estimated Start Date

  1. REQUIRED: Members will have to self-confirm that they are free of COVID-19 or its symptoms by replying to an official AmeriClerkships Credentialing email.

Verification of In-State Presence

For proof of stay, the following documents will be considered (regardless if the Member is currently in a clinical rotation in that state):

  1. Airline ticket with landing date of 14 days prior to your upcoming clinical block’s start date, in the same state as where your clinical block is located, OR
  2. Proof of same-state residence by way of address on an unexpired government issued identification card, OR
  3. Evidence of check-in to a hotel or Airbnb or bed and breakfast or other short term stays by no later than 14-days prior to your estimated start date, OR
  4. An updated check-in document into your place of stay (#3 above) if you have enrolled in more than 1 back-to-back clinical blocks in the same general vicinity or state, and staying at the same hotel or Airbnb or other room and board facility by no later than 14-days prior to the estimated start date of your next upcoming clinical block, OR
  5. Last month’s utility bill (cable, electricity, HOA, water, sanitation, etc.) if staying with a family or friend in state, OR
  6. Other evidence provided will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

The above must be uploaded by each Member using their personal Document Upload Portal link, and its approval is a pre-requisite for becoming Fully Enrolled Certified. However, AmeriClerkships reserves the right to:

  • Approve a delayed upload of the above required document for a limited time if AmeriClerkships Member does not have the above document, but will be obtaining it shortly after FEC (e.g. driving into Miami from Chicago 17 days prior to a scheduled start date, and has not checked into a hotel yet), OR
  • Delay a Member’s Clinical Block Start Date if the document uploaded does not sufficiently satisfy the requirements of this new policy.

If symptomatic or been diagnosed with COVID-19: Do not report to your scheduled clinical block and seek immediate treatment. Also please file a support case immediately so we can postpone and attempt to fully preserve your upcoming clinical block with no fees. AmeriClerkships and healthcare facilities reserve the right to pause or even stop a Member’s clinical block if the member or his/her attending physician reports to us that the Member was exposed to, or diagnosed with COVID-19. If this occurs, AmeriClerkships will issue an immediate Credit on File for the affected clinical block valid for 3 years, and waive all schedule change fees (except clinical site difference fees).

Healthcare facilities have also indicated that they will most likely ask for proof of the same at the start of each clinical block, and if it can not be provided, the Member will be asked to delay his/her start by at least 14 days if they choose to remain in state. The delayed start will most likely be added at the end of a delayed clinical block, but can not be guaranteed if it was this delay could have been prevented by complying with this new policy. Failure to upload, or unapproved delays to provide this document may result in delays in start date and incursion of various re-processing fees by Member. AmeriClerkships reserves the right to update or modify this policy at its own discretion. Your cooperation is appreciated as we all do our part to control the spread of COVID-19.
